Worth Waiting For

free-writing poetry exercise

Waiting for that moment
When it’s exactly right
Then grabbing it
Holding it tight.

Watching each movement
Where it goes next
Learning from mistakes
What to expect.

Wanting every minute
To slow down
Giving us time
To move this plan around.

I would wait here
Until I couldn’t wait anymore
Just whisper it quiet
Tell me what’s in store.
Everything good
Is worth waiting for.

The slightest signal and
Eager I will run to you
I’ll hold on and not let go
Give me a silent cue.
Everything good
Is worth waiting for.
