Figments of Friends and Lessons from a Silly Pup

Free-writing poetry

Sometimes your best friend is just a figment

A piecing together of memories, things forgotten

And what you always wished.

It’s just someone frozen in your mind

When you hang onto that, everything real loses value

And you miss the good of here and now.

What I want is only love, everyone says

Then take it when you’ve got it

And see it when it’s there before it’s gone.

The best friends of the past were great

But the friends of today are real and

We get angry sometimes.

But the best part of that is it’s easy

To forgive people you really love

And who really love you.

Unconditional best friends

It’s the best thing and it’s another one of those lessons

That you can learn from one silly little puppy.
